Browsing though live journal, I discovered that my last entry (in which I didn't have to cut and paste something in) was January 22nd.

*crickets chirping*

That is a bit of time that has passed. Instead of going back and talking about what has happened, cause that would be boring, I'll just ramble about "current events."

I have started training for Grandma's marathon. I run slow, so it'll take some time to train for a 26.2 mile run. Things are going well, but I still have a few issues with my shin splints. I wish I could get that taken care of. Rumor has it stretching helps, but I have been stretching 2-3 times a day (record for me) and still nothing. Maybe patience is the key. Its frustrating to go out for a 2 mile run, and I feel great save the sharp pain in my shins.

Work update...Well work is work...My commute was awful today, took about 45 minutes when it should only take about 20 or so. The job itself is going well. We are going to relocate the customer service department to Savage (that is where Chief Mfg. is) to free up some space. The dept I work in will be moving to the very end of our building. We just signed a lease on that spot which will give us 6,000 sq ft of space total. My job at Sanus will be changing come Jan 1. We are hiring a Tech writer to take over/help with instruction manual writing. We hope to also hire a Marketing Manager to help deal with MoCo (our marketing company). Once we get those hires taken care of, I will be ditching my old title for a new one. Moving from Product Specialist to Product Manager - Wall Mounts. This will be a big step for me. I will be in charge of organizing/keeping depts on task to bring products from creation (napkin drawing) to production. I am getting the wall mount side of it as opposed to the speaker stand/furniture side. It will mean a lot more work, seeing as best buy (as a whole company, not just the store near you) sold 8,000 of our mounts last week. That is just one customer, not to mention the CompUSA, Target, Walmart, Kmart (yes even Kmart) and all the other Electronic dealers we have. I'm hoping it will be a nice pay increase, all Dominic has told me is "you'll be taken care of." Which is comforting only until I see the $ in my account.

Speaking of $, where the hell does all of it go? Seems like as the years go on (since High School) I have made more $ every year. However, despite that fact, I seem to have less and less to spend every year. I think Bossart had something when he mocked me for being a professional student at the U. Come to think of it, it might not be a bad gig. I just need to learn how to get my finances back on track. I have slipped as of late, and must recover soon. I need to start saving money for some big purchases that are coming in the near future. I have a lot of financial stress in my life, and I think its starting to affect me. I always seem distracted by it. Maybe if I just sat down and wrote some goals down (think baby steps), I could start getting back on track.

Despite the fact that it is only 7:30 pm now, I should probably go take a nap now, Christie and I are going to see Harry Potter tonight at midnight. (should make for an entertaining work day on friday). I'm actually excited to see the movie (still on page 7 of book one...reading books appears to be my kyrptonite (sp?) right now) I can't tell if I'm excited to see Harry Potter, or just being back in the movie theatre. I havne't been to a movie in forever. It has been before wedding crashers came out, cause I never even made it to see that. I'm probably forgetting one inbetween, but oh well...

A Jeff entry? Must be a mirage. Let's start out with the basics: it's spelled "kryptonite."

As far as shin splints: I have fewer problems with them myself when I don't stretch, and when I warm up for a good 15 minutes with a walk. (Not that I do a particularly large amount of running.) Stretching really seems to exacerbate them for me, but walking first helps. As always, though, your mileage may vary.

What is this I see.... Jeffey writing in his journal? Has hell frozen over? :)
Shin splints. Ice them after you run, that helped me some. Or run on softer surfaces, like grass or dirt (concrete hurts). If you run on a treadmill, run at a .5 or 1 incline. But unfortunatly, I have never had the pain go away, just learned to live with it. Also make sure you have good shoes (you will need new ones about every 6 months). Finding the right shoe made all the difference to me. Go to a specialty store. I recommend seeing Dave at Marathon Sports off of 50th and France. He was my coach and a fantastic help. But anyone at a running store will be able to put you in shoes that are good. Marathon Sports, The Running Room, Run and Fun, etc.
